Miui has never had that capability as far as I can remember, and I have been using it off and on since August last year.

I found out that notification bar theme changes have the same result in 1.4.28 as well. Basically, if it drives a reboot of the system, the system bootloops. I have gotten in the habit of 3 finger saluting after about 5 loops. This was a full wipe clean install... not an update or cache clear...
