Google play and all

not being lazy, I read most of the thread related to installing google play into my hongmi, but I'm more confused then when I have not.

I tried searching "google installer" in the mi market, however, I couldn't find any google installer in it.

Hence, I have few questions and hopefully you'll be able to help me,
1. How can I tell which version my hongmi is? this hongmi was bought by my aunt from china (shenzen) so I don't really know which version it was.

2. Can I just upgrade it (using updater app) with this http://celogeek.miuiandroid.com/hongmi/miuiandroid_multi_HM2013023_WCDMA_JHBCNBA13.0_jb-4.2.zip ? so I don't have to root this phone to make google play working.

try this. search google installer from MIUI market. look for eric xiang. install it. then look for google play from there. and dont delete the eric xiang google installer. restart the phone and see
