I have a Mi3 but with SD801 MSM8974(PRO-AB) So will I be able to run LTE/4G in Europe?
Obviously... I would love to have 4G/LTE, So how would I enable it?

"CPU Model: 8974AB supports 4G-LTE, but 8274AB supports HSPA+. In short, 8974 supports 4G-LTE Snapdragon 800, but 8274 doesn’t support LTE snapdragon 800."

Did you read what I posted? Yes most Mi3 have 8274, but I have 8927. I ordered one of the first Mi3 out there, which coheres with the other references.

I will add some screenshots, maybe that helps.

As you can see, (apparently) the chip are 8927, which is - apparently - the same (!) chip in the upcoming Mi4 which will be LTE able.

Nah,Thats just how the cpu based,I mean all the softwares find it as 8974 (Its showing to me the same as you MSM8974PRO-AB) Maybe the way Qualcomm mark their cpu is like that but that doesnt mean thats the 8974..
Sorry but no LTE ;(

@Edo Yehezkel Um all Mi3s manufactured before the new year have the 8974 processor; when I got my Mi3, there was a blue label on the back of the phone stating when the phone was manufactured. Mine was manufactured in June of last year. There was a lot of hate toward Xiaomi for changing the processor unexpectedly .

guys ... just open up the phone physically, and you will see that its 8274.
all these urban legends regarding the 8974 ... maybe you got some prototype or something.
anyway, i'm pretty sure that Xiaomi blocked any option for LTE on your device, if its somehow by hardware or by some missing components.
you want to believe that your phone is special and it has 8974, knock your self out.
until proven else, there was no production model with 8974 phone.

WCDMA variants were sold since 27 Dec 2013 if I recall. So everyone with WCDMA got 8274 cpu. 8974 is a cpu family so it's written even in build.prop or init.qcom.post_boot.sh for MI3 rom. But the actual cpu is 8274.

I would think if this was in fact the LTE chip, someone would have hacked it by now.

If all mi3w have the same chip then why some phones display on benchmarks chip 8974 and others 8274 it is not logical, for example my mi3w have 8974 on all possible benchmarks i could find, and in some youtube videos i see mi3w shows 8274. My belife is that we could have 4g on mi3w with 8974 but is blocked from the software.

It's just not clear. That's why I was posting a question about it.
Sure I would love it to be, but yes it could be a 'legend' too.
Just was trying to shed some light on this.
I agree, that someone probably would've hacked it by now.
But also... why are there Mi3's out there with 8974 and 8274?

Its funny I have a 8974 and saw a picture of a mi3 with LTE on the corner lock screen next to the carriers logo, this was on the page I purchased my mi3, but it was only getting 3g. I don't have a way to test it on my phone because I don't have LTE data access on my account I'm on a 3g only plan. Its actually detecting it but it was only connected to 3g in the pics.

Relly interesting im now even more convinced that something fishy is going on, but im shure we will not know the truth untin we get ciyanogen, because miui and xiaomi will newer admit that they shipp the same device to the customers for the same price but with different options , time will tell.

Mine says 4G, just like how I placed it there trough the settings ;) still only receiving 3g tops

Like i said the hardware is capable but the miui software is blocking the speed, ciyanogen will fix this:) i hope.

From web info:
last month, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 801 series that includes the MSM8974AC. Finally, we are able to clarify the identity of MSM8974AC. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the first device that powered by Snapdragon 801 MSM8974. During the presentation of Sony Xperia Z2, Sony’s executive mentioned that Sony Xperia Z2 has a Snapdragon 801 processor as well. After we checked on the Sony website, we found out that it is the MSM8974AB model. The report from AnandTech confirmed that the MSM8974AB is categorized under the Snapdragon 800 series. How come Sony described MSM8974AB as the Snapdragon 801 series while another prominent website categorized it as Snapdragon 800 series?

Finally, Qualcomm clarified the processor mess-up through its website. The chipmaker confirms that the Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5 are powered by the Snapdragon 801 series. In other words, both MSM8974AC and MSM8974AB are categorized under the Snapdragon 801. Therefore, the Snapdragon 800 series has only a single member – MSM8974.

Recently, XiaoMi also involved in the processor messed-up as the company announced that it will come with a Snapdragon MSM8975AB. At the end of the day, the device arrived at customers with a Snapdragon MSM8274AB processor. XiaoMi explained that both models are the same except the network mode. For your information, MSM8974AB supports 4G LTE while MSM8274AB supports up to WCDMA network only.

It is wise for Qualcomm to clarity the processors before the announcement of manufacturers in order to avoid the same issue happen again

LTE/4G is impossible

lekzz is right...in new chip they used msm 8974 used...my mi laso msm 8974 chip.....

Please check your phone in AnTuTu or 3dmark. These two apps back info is 8274 cpu.
All others apps (cpu info, droid hardware info etc.) back info is 8974 cpu.

I dont no, why apps not recognize info directly from hardware chip. Why info is reading from buil.prop and other files(Acid writed in post)?
What apps see competely true in infos?

Maybe there's a way of somehow enabling it, the question is if the 4g modem present in both models.

Why do you and other people keep asking the same question again and again and again although it already has been answered like a 1000 times.
Is the sky green? No, it is not green. Will it become green, if you ask again? No, it won't. Well, grass is green. Could the sky not be the same green as grass? No, it cannot. But I like green, so I want the sky to be green. It still is not green. Is there any chance to get it green, if you compare it with something else that is green? No, it still will not.

Do you get the point? This is so tiring and annoying. So how about if you just accept it? Mi3 does not support LTE.
