I am using franco's nightly kernel.

    It is good and stable.

You may try faux123's kernel or leankernel by imoseyon..

    They offer different characteristics..

Thanks - people seem to be getting great results out of Franco nightlies especially .160

Do you have to reflash the kernel after updating MIUI weekly? (i.e. does MIUI flash its own kernel w/ the update package either weekly or periodically?)

Just flashed 2.5.18 and it replaced the Kernel so had to go back and flash Franco's again.

Yes. Normally that what's I did.

I just simply reflash to the kernel that I want.

But of course, you can modify the rom zip file from MIUI to replace boot image with Franco's boot image so when you flash the ROM, it will use Franco's automatically.

I get amazing results using Franco's kernel with the conservative kernel. Definitely the best performance to battery life ratio I've ever had. I'm on r200 right now.
