Good day,
I have one redmi note 2 prime, bought from ebay.uk, with english interface, came with US style power plug, with
Android version 5.0.2 LRX22B and
MIUI 7 by xiaomi.eu 5.10.16 | Beta.

The phone is missing the FM radio app and/or shortcut, and has all google apps and play store installed and working fine.

Check for Update function reports "there are no updates", but I can see here that there are versions up to 6.3.24.

1. Is "MIUI 7 by xiaomi.eu 5.10.16 | Beta" a so called "Developer" version?
2. Can you please refer me to a post or help me with the order and the steps to update the phone, preferably via SD card, in order to get the FM radio app working and keep having the google apps and play store? Are the steps provided in the general section of this site still valid (/community/threads/how-to-update-upgrade-miui.15424/)?
3. I found the "Updater" app within the Tools folder, can I use it to directly update the new ROM?
4. Do I need to install TWRP first as it says in instructions for latest version 6.3.24/25, or should I load the new ROM only with the Updater app?

thanks a lot,
darenGr

1. It is a european custom rom based on MIUI China Developer. Xiaomi.eu takes the China versions and makes them multilingual and applies some fixes.
Stable version are MIUI VERSION.UPDATE (7.2.1), developer versions are Year.Month.Day (6.3.24). Developer versions are always newer than Stable ones.
2.Take a look at this post http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/redmi-note-2-32gb.29739/page-2#post-272472
3.You can do it,but I prefer the above way, because you end up with a clean rom installation.
4.Yeap,use the fastboot method

thank you very much Antonis (Αντώνη),
for 4. can I install it via Updater app, and then, how do I use it?
at your link, at which step should I start, because I already have a developer version?

If your phone is empty and you don't have anything to lose (photos, music, contacts etc etc) you can follow only these steps:
1)Fastboot flash TWRP (you can use this guide,it's got all the drivers you'll need http://en.miui.com/thread-146299-1-1.html ,just don't flash supersu)
2)Reboot into TWRP and allow the modification
3)Go to Wipe->Advanced and delete everything except SD CARD and USB OTG
4)Go to the main menu choose reboot->recovery to reboot again to TWRP
5)Connect to PC and transfer the rom zip file to your phone
6)Flash the Rom (Install->select the rom zip file)
7)Boot and setup the rom

If you have photos and other stuff, follow my guide. It doen't matter that you already have the developer version. Better do all the steps to have a bug-free rom.
You just have to do this once my friend. For the next version, you just flash the zip. :)

In order to flash the twrp recovery, do I need to copy all files from twrp-hermes.zip into the adb folder? It contains
scatter.txt
type.txt
twrp.img
and a folder named META-INF.

Instructions say to rename "recovery.img: to plain "recovery", but I see only twrp.img within the zip file.

Leave it as it is. just copy the twrp.img into the adb directory, then press and hold POWER+VOLUME DOWN until the phone boots into fastboot(the Mi Bunny). After that open a command prompt in the adb directory and run the command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

After that press and hold POWER+VOLUME UP until the Mi Logo appears and you will boot into Recovery mode.
If it doesn't boot into recovery, either try holding the two buttons for a little longer or go to the updater app, select the dots (upper right) and select boot to recovery.
