I'm still happy with miui. No other rom feels so nice and optical perfect. I always come back to miui as daily driver since ice cream sandwich on many devices. Always root, always adaway and some tweaks like actually fluid navigation gestures (also need a magisk module to deactivate rom navbar)...
I use nova launcher from app store since Samsung S2 and it's always working. There you have the classic Google search bar as widget and you can search there for installed apps too. Beside it has an app drawer with search too.
I use nova launcher since Samsung S2 :-) with all possible ROMs.
I got the recent app error with miui. 12.5 one time and had written with the dev of nova launcher.
He said it's an error with Android since a10
For me every second recent app in recent screen was gone and blacked out.
Check if the app has the write access to storage rights.
Perhaps you have the storage bug some people mentioned here. For me everything works out of the box since miui 12.

It's possible that the game won't run on any miui system. Clear cache and data of the game, perhaps that would fix it.
Did I mention this is a rom thread?
Thank you for the new update!
I'm glad I did this step to update on mi 11 Venus from latest miui 12.5 weekly to miui 13.
I get 1 reboot after first entering magisk to enable modules again, but that's it - it's smooth as hell and the little lags with 12.5 are gone. Finally the fastest...
I know the possibly to turn the green icons off, but I like them. But I have read about the possibly to turn it off in privacy settings too.
I didn't find the s menue of the screenshot above, but would also be interested why this option don't work. Is it in development of side miui and don't...
When updating a rom, it's urgent to use s good usb cable eg the one that comes with the phone.
Don't use to long or thin cables from your cupboard that came with a headset or any other toy.
It also shouldn't be that long, the more power needs the usb port - that's what I learned when updating...
