Hey I love some of the themes downloadable through the theme managers online section. The only problem is that it takes like 1 minute for 1% of the theme to download. And because of some weird reason, the download fails after a while. It would be sweet with a sub-section in the themes...

As far as I know everything on your checklist can be fixed, if you haven't fixed it already. Maps can be downloaded from android market or market.android.com. My contact-sync is working flawlessly with facebook. Are you sure you have automatic sync turned on? Maybe try reinstalling the app...

Well, I would wait until Widgetlocker gets support for it. Then you don't need to go around doing all the work yourself.
