It seems the problem is in the gps.conf file. I rooted the phone and replaced the file as per the following article: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/step-step-definitive-gps-solution-global-t3695769 Now I can navigate with 4G enabled... Xiaomi need to fix their gps.conf file.

Have you tried switching "Preferred network type" to "GSM/WCDMA auto" (or any other setting that is appropriate to your carrier that DOES NOT include LTE)? I can get lock perfectly with LTE enabled, but the moment I start tracking I lose GPS lock. With LTE disabled (or 3G only), tracking works...
