You can only encrypt with fstab modified.
Setting feature will reset your phone. anyway have a backup for your data.

Hi. I have set the encrypt phone on my MI8@global xiaomi.eu ROM, but after that the system will not boot, only recovery. Question is: is it possible to solve the issue without Format data? Can the fstab modification be done after the encryption is turned on ?

Thanks

Unfortunately, it is no way to escape than "format data" . I suffered many times this before understanding what's going on.
BUT you may check if it's not possible to flash back the full rom. it depends mainly on your twrp.
Fstab mod has to be done on non encrypted rom.
