    Why did you tie the account to his number, your device would need to have his sim in it to be able to unlock (I think)! It is not needed, thanks @egold70 for correcting me! Create an account with your own number. Xiaomi.eu roms are custom roms and not the official version.

    Did you get a new MIUI account? As for unlocking officially for the first time, you need to be on an official rom. If you successfully unlock before on official rom, then the unlock works on xiaomi.eu. You may need to flash an official rom, by EDL mode (if your device supports that method).

    Yes the 'Xiaomi Mail' app, it is probably running in the background when using other apps. Another user had the same problem a few weeks ago.

    Going by your post's this is not your first xiaomi device, so if you want to flash this weekly custom rom, you need to unlock your bootloader, flash TWRP and with that flash this rom. Good luck with the unlock process, reports of people needing to make multiple attempts until successful...

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X Gets Android 7 via MIUI Developer ROM Update ---- since MIUI 8 7.4.27 beta! What rom version are you currently on? If on stable or offical you may still have 6.0! Flashing the latest will update your device and maybe lock the bootloader in the process.

    @baguette The only difference between them is the band 20, your device should be "mido" and that is the rom to use. Just make sure when you get it that it is the Snapdragon version you got from gearbest. Chance's are that it may come with a vendor rom.

    @Christiaanzwll You could try getting it into fastboot mode by holding volume down, when attaching the device to computer. Then issue "fastboot reboot" to start the device.
