So maybe sebsch is right saying that you probably should re-install the whole adb-package as well as the USB-drivers... cannot do any harm^^

Hmm, no other idea then... "fastboot devices" should display a number, but if nothing happens... weird... Have you installed the correct adb package?

Maybe obvious question but did you try another USB-cable? Maybe you got one that does not support data, there are a lot of USB-cables which only charge...

I really can recommend AndCollas guide - I did the TWRP flash yesterday myself on my Mi2s and it works flawlessly: http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/guide-recovery-twrp-how-to-install-a-custom-recovery-on-miui-v6-v7.28465/

...maybe, but saying it once is sufficient.

So, using TWRP, you do not recommend to install a new ROM on both systems?

Just to understand and verify: When I install a new ROM with MI recovery the existing ROM is automatically pushed to either System1 or System2 dpending on the last flash, correct? If so, installing a new ROM onto both systems means there is no chance to go back. Correct as well?

Thanks to everybody answering my "shutdown" question! If clearing the cache while updating via MI recovery is strongly recommended, maybe sebsch could add this remark in the kitchen how to...

Anybody with Mi2s who experienced random shutdowns (with any version of sMIUI). I got this phenomenon approx. once every 2 days...

Had the same issue, too. Sometimes just waiting solves a problem...:)

Very good. Maybe you can add a link to a working CMW as sebsch and others stated CWM to be a bit better/more flexible when it comes to flash specific partitions...

[rom]-- Smiui Rom -- Ultimate Custom Rom --[multilang,stable/weekly]

I guess sMIUI is very successful, maybe "too" successful, therfore you get users who take sMIUI as a completely stable ROM. Anyway, thanks a lot for the explanation in case of bootloops. Another source is http://en.miui.com/a-232.html

[rom]-- Smiui Rom -- Ultimate Custom Rom --[multilang,stable/weekly]

Maybe sebsch could offer a kind of "naked" or "basic" sMIUI where allmost all MI apps are removed as an additional alternative to dozens of checkboxes in the kitchen... just an idea...

[rom]-- Smiui Rom -- Ultimate Custom Rom --[multilang,stable/weekly]

@sebsch: if I remember correctly, removing the Xiaomi Framework while cooking a sMIUI ROM in your kitchen, produced a lot of problems. If the approach posted by yorikkk is proven that could maybe added to a "kitchen FAQ" with good proposals to improve battery life etc.

That's what I did as well^^ But you are right, there is no need in discussing back and forth the pros and cons of other ROMs here and yes, I do respect Seb's work as well.
