No. I haven't done it myself and it's working perfectly.

The battery usage on mine improved a lot from the third day after installing MIUI 13. I did this permissions procedure too and it didn't help much. It's really patience, so much so that now my battery is even better than on MIUI 12.5.

You can install without having to hard reset. Whether you want to format or not, it's your choice. I did it myself without formatting.

I had this problem on my Mi 11, but as of today I haven't had any more heating problems. I think it's a period of "system adaptation". As well as the battery, today it has also improved.

In summary that's right friend. It can only be installed by fastboot, with or without data formatting, it's your choice. TWRP does not exist for android 12, at least for the Mi 11 family.
