Try disabling the gesture and enable it again. Worked for me on my Mi 9 (cepheus).

Confirmed. Fix: Disable and enable it again then it works fine. Settings, Advanced settings, Gesture shortcuts.

I don't have this kind of behavior on my Mi 9. I use MIUI notification shade if you can test it too.

I can confirm it on YouTube. Used it for a while and the home gesture didn't work. Turned off screen and opened it and works again. Also happens in some other apps but not all the time. Device Mi 9.

On 20.5.7 rom?

It is known bug. Disable full screen gestures and enable navigation buttons to fix it for now.

One last thing I would do before clean install is install same rom again to see if it fixes the camera for you.
