Did you update the bootloader to a newer version or did you replaced your bootloader by another one (not Xiaomi MiPad)? If the last one is the case there won't be no way to restore your MiPad without a JTAG.

Xiaomi uses a modified maximum overdrive. Which means it allows more hidden apps in RAM then AOSP ROM's. Can be fixed if you hack Services.jar Edit: To add some proof. I'm using a modified MIUI ROM that allows 50 hidden apps. Only 1gb free. Decrease the allowed amount of hidden apps results...

I tested it for you, I get an increase of 2000 points. Mostly multitasking and CPU. Stock kernel had 22000 OC has 24000 This is 24.000 This is 22.000 Hope you can do something with it. My OC in this kernel is based on Nexus 4 kernel from faux. Same adaption, don't know if that's important...

I don't know about the stable release cycle for Xiaomi Hongmi. I do know that it will take some time to update Hongmi 1 to KitKat IF it even get's kitkat (because of MTK chipset)
