You can try it with USSD Code *#*#4636#*#*. But you will have to do this again after a reboot.

Workaround: Uninstall the apps and reinstall them again. The switches should work then.

You already got an answer to both "issues". If you don't like the answers or the rom itself - look for another and stop whining like a kid. It's your personal configuration which is different from standard rom. So the issues are your personal issues. End of story.

Maybe your persist partition is damaged. Try to flash an actual persist.img. Google will show you some guidelines

There's a similar issue with other apps. For example I'm unable to grant Titanium Backup access to contacts. Same for Rom Toolbox pro.

Well I assume that they do it to make sure that the offered functions (rom and OTA) are working in a correct way. What isn't sure with every recovery. So that you have a complete, working package. If you want another recovery - just flash it after the update. btw, thanks for your very friendly...

Mi8 / dipper. It's in the menu of AOD. Theres a toggle to use App icons.

It works. You can switch between "pale" symbols - regarding the animation or the original app icons. Tried to fold my device to take a picture of itself without success. ;-) But it works, believe me. :-)

Dirty update on dipper / Mi 8. Yes, there is an issue with the launcher. It crashes when trying to search apps. And a very small issue. The updater apk is showing no information about the new update. So far - so good. Thanks guys!
