Got a couple of Redmi 2 users, running xiaomi.eu stable firmwares. On both phones alarm clock has a mind of its own. In the morning, it does not wake them up. If you do a manual test, say setting an alarm a couple of minutes from the current time, it works fine. Any idea what might be wrong...

TBH, I thought I did: "look into" is a well known expression, whereas IIRC ("if i recall correctly") is one of the oldest abbreviations, as old as"LOL" :) I tried the cofface build, same failure. It seems I'll have to fastboot flash with SP flash tools, as a final experiment, before giving up...

Flashing TWRP from within the updater app never worked for me, YMMV though.

What type of backups need a R/W file system in TWRP? For example, do the ones taken with the MIUI local backup function need it? Or are you talking about restoring backups taken with TWRP itself? Sorry, but I was not succesful. My son has a Mi3 and it was about his new TWRP-based firmware I was...

@graw2 this option initially popped up when I fiirst entered TWRP, after flashing it as a recovery. It gave me the option to have the system partition R/W or R/O. Which is the correct option? What should be selected there?

@nicoff @graw2 what is the default in TWRP? How do you have TWRP to mount the system partition? R/W or R/O? I am asking, because I'm having a bug trying to flash updates from stable firmwares (see: http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-3-31.30858/page-21#post-284457 ), as @ingbrzy suggested.

Definitely an original RN3, which operates just fine with any other way. Except TWRP... As for the instructions you are citing, they are (IIRC) for Qualcomm processors. But thank you for taking the time and trying to help!

Are you sure about these? I thought that fastboot oem edl was for qualcomm/snapdragon phones and not for the MTK-based ones, like this RN3...

@ingbrzy how does the updater work in the new stable firmwares? Can one flash "Select recovery package" from the updater to install a firmware? If I try to do so from the updater, it throws me back to MIUI. I can only install if I boot into TWRP and install the firmware from the TWRP install...

Even though MTK-based phones require SP flash tools, on RN3 it is recommended to flash with fastboot flash recovery. Sorry mate, you have misunderstood perhaps my issue. This is not a case of me having TWRP installed currently and wanting it replaced. The issue is that I do not have TWRP...

You're wrong, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 1 (including WCDMA, 1S and 4G) all got updates from 4.2 / 4.3 to 4.4. Some days ago Redmi 2 got a developer (for the time being) firmware that updates it from 4.4 to 5.
