+1. Remove all the security prior to updating and all the encryption/formatting nightmares disappear.

You can also update from the TWRP app, it will install 3.3.1-1 without you having to manually flash it.

Did you reboot after turning systemless hosts on? I've done this twice on both the eu rom and pixel experience and it's worked every time.

Install it using Magisk. In Magisk, turn on systemless hosts support, then run Adaway.

TWRP also works for an encrypted file system, you just need the key. If you re-encrypt the phone, enter the screen lock code when TWRP starts and everything works fine, although with MIUI-based roms you may have a problem with saving the /data partition (it works ok with non-MIUI roms).

You could also use Gentle Alarm if you can't get MIUI to work, the night display on it is really nice. You can choose the colour and the brightness, and the digits move to prevent burn-in. It will also automatically trigger night mode when you put it on the wireless charger. Why every phone...

I never found a pocket mode setting. However, the Pixel Experience rom proves it's not necessary. With no fingerprint registered, the sensor doesn't turn the screen on.

I never found it either. I had all kinds of problems just putting the phone in my pocket, since even with fingerprint off, just the merest touch on the sensor was enough to turn the screen on. The rom I'm on now, the fingerprint sensor is disabled once you removed fingerprint unlock.

I've only been running it for a day, but so far no downsides, everything I've tested works (including bluetooth) other than Ok Google voice detection (Xiaomi driver issue, I believe). For the way it looks, just look at any Pixel! It's vanilla Google Android. It felt like a big relief to me...

Yes, I know, doesn't make any difference. The problems I saw on this rom were: Native messaging app doesn't support group messaging. Google Messages runs unreliably, messages not arriving, notifications not shown, outbound messages delayed, etc. Lockscreen notifications not persistent...

It also comes with its own issues. I was never able to get notifications working reliably on this rom.

Yes, I suppose if we stick to the native messaging which doesn't appear to support group messages, then this may be technically correct. Thanks for responding anyway.

That's on a Sony device. What makes you think it is supported on the Mi Mix 3?
