    Indeed, but a backup of the data partition isn't particularly important unless you're wiping when you flash, in which case you need to be backing up with Titanium anyway. The reason I run a backup before flashing is in case of a problem with the partition being flashed, which is /system.

    Backup partition selection. If you're a beta tester, try backing up System Image (3584mb on my Mix3), Boot (64mb) and Vendor Image (1024mb), then restore them and test if it works. The backup runs fine, and since it's a bitmap image, I can't see any reason why the restore shouldn't also work.

    There's only one, the unofficial, which is what I'm using. Go and look. It has system.img and vendor.img options. If I run the usual backup of the /system partition, it fails with error 255.

    Use the system.img and vendor.img options. So, boot, system.img, vendor.img. This answer comes from the TWRP FAQ. The backup works, I haven't tried to restore yet.

    Is there a way to import themes from storage without using an app? I assume there's a system folder somewhere (I'm rooted)?

    Same here, easily the best phone I've ever owned. Slider is fine, no scratches, battery life is better than I expected, the only issues I've had are with Google apps, notifications are borked for Messages, and the later builds of Maps have problems with GPS accuracy (earlier builds work fine).

    Screen is off but "pulses" about every minute...?

    The notification setting has a choice between Android & MIUI, which I think may switch between the LED and the purple pulses. I'm waiting for a notification to arrive to test it.

    Textra works fine as an alternative to Google Messages. Whatsapp notifications are working fine for me.

    I have 17.1 running, flashed from TWRP. Both modules I've tried to install (Viper) have failed though.

    Yes. This is the problem I ran into with the Mi Mix 3. If you follow the instructions and just reboot with the fastboot command, it boots back to the MIUI recovery. After issuing the fastboot boot recovery.img command, I immediately held down the power & Vol+, and it booted back to TWRP. To...
