This is how I rooted my Mi 5c with the current weekly build (7.8.24 too). MIUI 9 7.8.17

Last time I tried, SuperSu did not work at all. I had to use Magisk. For the procedure check out: MIUI 9 7.8.17

Mi 5c 7.8.17 working fine so far: Got root again using the following procedure: 1. Install 7.8.17 2. Boot 7.8.17 3. Boot to recovery again 4. Flash phh superuser magisk r266 5. Reboot to system 6. Boot to recovery again 7. Flash magisk v9 8. Reboot to system 9. Reboot to recovery again 10...

This is how it worked: 1. Install 7.7.13 2. Boot 7.7.13 3. Boot to recovery again 4. Flash magisk v9 + phh superuser magisk r266 at once 5. Reboot to system 6. Reboot to recovery again 7. Flash magisk v12 (maybe I could have flashed v12 in the first place, but in the past this did not work)...

Additionally tried 7.7.13 with: - plain supersu 2.82 --> fastboot - plain magisk v13.2 alone --> fastboot - magisk v13.2 + phh superuser magisk r266 --> fastboot

With this build I could not get Magisk + phh Super Su to work on Mi 5c. Tried flashing Magisk v9 first, then phhs superuser as always for the last builds. Flash was successful, but I always ended up in the recovery again. Any ideas what I could try next? For now I reverted back to 7.6.29...

On my phone "Production Target" is greyed out too (state is "open"), but I could switch the Frequency Mode anyways. Maybe there is a connection in the software between the mode and the specific type you choose? On my phone the "Test Tool" or the "Band Tool" never worked. Anyone has an idea why?
