Re Google Assistant on Mi8: For me it helped to simply delete assistant app data, delete voice model and re-enable the assistant. It actually even kept my trained voice.
I guess, ingbrzy is reading here and is trying things out (even the useless stuff in the feature xml). He added Oreo HotwordEnrollment apks to priv-apps, not sure why he didn't use Pocos Pie apks.
However, even with Pie apks hotword detection does not work. I can enable voice match just fine...
The patch has been included on this weeks regular 8.11.15 Mi8 build. Sweet!
(Poco and Mix2s users may experience perfect auto-brightness as well, do you?)
* Much too dark in general
* Even worse most of the times when waking up from screen-off (almost nothing visible)
* Sometimes flashing and switching between steps
* Sometimes erratically switching to full brightness
* Generally reacting much too slow when light changes
Google xiaomi mi 8 auto...
Yesterday, I pulled all relevant files from the Poco F1 rom image (apks, xmls, soundtrigger libs) and yet I'll get an error from the audio HAL. I can enable the assistant but the network request to Google after activation times out.
Question: Does Ok Google work on the 181030 Poco F1 Pie beta?
It would be easy for them to include this in their patches on top of CN; and a major upgrade as well.
I hate shipping compiled code and the responsibility that is coming with it (this is btw why I respect the Xiaomi EU people a lot, maintaining a project like this is a tough job).
They didn't Iike used the word "******" to describe the unusable auto-brightness. That's ok, I guess.

I added a flashable zip for testing.
UPDATE: Included in regular builds >= 8.11.15.
More or less everybody knows that Xiaomi messed up autobrightness values on their sdm845 devices (i.e. Mi8 or Poco F1).
