Looks like you are overdoing yourself just to do a simple job of flashing a rom via twrp. Simplify your life...

Since you are using TWRP to flash the rom-update, just wipe cache and dalvik after the process. This way you are preserving the internal storage where your data (pics, docs, apps data, etc) reside. Do not wipe any other partition.

I only sync with Google, not with Xiaomi. Better this way to avoid possible conflicts.

Sound perception, however prior to flashing the EU rom this weekend, I have no intention of going back to stable global. Will just stay with beta global 8.9.20. Much appreciated. ;)

hey guys, just wait a few days and i'll be flashing my first eu rom in my RN5AI. the waiting time is up this thursday, so i should be able to unlock the bootloader by then. in the meantime i changed the stock rom from 10.x.x.x stable global to 8.9.20 beta/developer global to be at least closer...

Mi Max 2 here. Just installed xiaomi.eu 8.9.20 from another custom rom. I thought there's a new option in the local backup to place the backup files on to an otg flash drive. There is none, or is there in the china rom?

Sure do, for as long as you follow to the letter the instructions there in.

You can have a full-backup image of the current rom if you have unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp.
