You can't update via fastboot. You'll have to install TWRP and perform future updates from there.

Forget installing ROM via fastboot. Just flash the TWRP and install ROM from there!

The irony is that on my 'old' Redmi Note 5 Pro I already had MIUI12 for quite some time now. [emoji38][emoji16]
