Upgraded to 12.5.4 last night and it seems just as good.
Active drain and idle drain look about the same and it feels just as snappy.
Only changes I have noticed are the updated security patch and newer revisions of many system apps.
If I recall correctly, 12.0.2 can be dirty flashed to the latest version without data loss.
I haven't tried 12.5.4 yet, but only because 12.5.3 is the best version of MIUI so far, (for my usage).
Over the past week, Ive received 3.email notifications from Sourceforge for 12.5.4 for Joyeuse.
This isn't typical and suggests that updated builds have been made available for unknown reasons. The most likely reason however would be bug fixes, so maybe worth checking the build date of your ROM...
Apologies for my earlier reply.
I'd forgotten that I'd installed an APK that updates the time stamp.
I uninstalled the apk this morning to test and I'm now back on Feb 2021 without any updates available....same as you.
Seems it's associated with automatic call recording.
When disabling the setting in system settings, the dialer app behaves normally.
Edit:Just noticed a new build has been uploaded to SF. Will test and report back.
Installed 12.5.3 this morning and am having an issue the dialer app.
It functions correctly, but once a call connects, it like the app window is losing and regaining focus in a loop.
Anyone else had a chance to test it yet?
I prefer OrangeFox because they provide the widest support for Xiaomi devices.
The Dev has a 9S and tests features and compatibility himself. And he does load up custom ROMs to confirm bugs and contributes his fixes to TWRP.
But if someone like the poster above prefers TWRP, and it's working...
