    I Buy A Redmi 3 Or No ?

IMO bootloader question (locked/unlocked) is a large factor. Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

    MULTI 6.2.25

This is a very welcome addition. It is so nice and very convenient to have TWRP images for the xiaomi devices without need for a MI account or needing to search the Internet in the hope of finding the correct recovery image! Thanks. Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

    MULTI 6.2.25

I'd guess this was meant ironically, but supposing that I really did wish to try repackaging my own ROM - could you point out some good build procedure? Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Roms For Dummies

I've also had good experience using fastboot to flash TWRP recovery (on Hermes - ie, RN2). AFAIK this also seems to be the only means for Linux users anyhow. It would be nice if someone with a MI forum account could also post their TWRP images here as well, for the benefit of xiaomi.eu users...

To Root Redmi Note 2 Prime With Miui7 Vers.5.10.16 Keeping The Update Function

I have a rooted rn2 running the EU ROM and the updater seems to be working (at least it tells me that a newer version is available, but I didn't update this week). I use the smiui ROM, which conveniently includes super su. The MIUI security centre doesn't seem to think so, but the phone is...

How To Change Stock Message App

In layman's terms (I hope I get it right) - when Android can boot into one of three modes: normal, recovery, fastboot. Recovery/fastboot mode via power and volume key combination (check the forums). You can normally update the operation system (which everyone calls it ROM) either from within the...

Google Apps Missing After Installing Xiaomi.eu

The low (zero?) bloat of the EU roms is indeed very much appreciated!! Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

    Change Usb Mode

Had the same problem and posted yet another workaround (search forum) - using QuickShortcutMaker to access the USB option. It looks ugly, but works well. Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

How To Change Stock Message App

You should be aware that you likely have a reseller version of MIUI 7.0.1, which can be the source of many issues. If you can unlock the bootloader, I'd suggest using the EU ROM first - you'll have a much better experience in the long-term. Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

[rom]-- Smiui Rom -- Ultimate Custom Rom --[multilang,stable/weekly]

I think I read somewhere on the forum that it doesn't work with lollipop. Doesn't bother me either way, but it would be kind of nice if the ringer volume mod worked. @sebsch: do you have any docs to post about how some of these mods are done? Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

    Usb / Mtp Connect Problems

Okay this is definitely a MIUI bug. It persists in 5.12.31 as well. The workaround (similar to description on MIUI forum) is a 3rd party app to shortcut to missing USB settings. I used QuickShortcutMaker from playstore to do it. Now working again. Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

    New Missing Settings (rn2)

Sigh - looks like I've hit exactly the same issue with usb connections. I'll see if this has been fixed in a newer version or I'll probably need the same hacks as you used.

    Usb / Mtp Connect Problems

I'm running 5.12.3 (smiui) and just noticed that it no longer mounts when attached to the pc (running suse 13.2 and leap 42.1 with kde). The device does exist according to lsusb, and I can connect via adb, but the simple file transfer doesn't. The device notifier (kde) now ignores the device. In...

Will Apps, Settings And Files Remain After Update?

To flash the EU ROM on the Note2, you will need to either use TWRP recovery (as per the instructions) or possible downgrade to an older Mi recovery that does not include keysign checks. I went with TWRP and an EU version from SMIUI - works well for me. Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

    Xiaomi.eu Vs Miui.com

I tried the 7.0.6 global from miui - it was a mistake. As expected, no gapps. But even stranger, no keyboard! This when I started with the EU roms and haven't regretted it. Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

    MULTI 5.11.26

Thank you yet again for the solid work of providing ROMs for all these devices. For the devices that require TWRP, would it also be possible to supply download links for the respective TWRP images? It seems like some recovery images are over on en.miui, but requires registration. I found my...

    Eu Rom Vs China Rom

It does just seem to be the 7.0.6 global stable that has this type of default browser content. I just flashed the 5.11.5 and its browser doesn't have all of these Indian sites. I'll just see if/when I hit the reported WiFi problems.

    Eu Rom Vs China Rom

Only somewhat related, but I hate starting a new thread for a few minor questions that are probably a FAQ anyhow but that I didn't find. I'm a new owner of a Note2 that came with MIUI-66.77.33.00. I managed about a week before deciding that it really couldn't be the true answer. I've since...
