practically none! ...but is the new nougat kernel, so I would expect improved CPU performance, memory handling and battery life (hopefully)!

Thank you, I followed these steps and everything is fine! I am on Nougat 7 (8.2.3) now and TWRP 3.0.3. No data lost and all apps working fine! P.S. Unlocking is made easy now (not as used to be last summer)!

I am still confused! - If I install Nougat over Lollipop (both stable) do I have to "wipe/data" ? - Do I have to install the new TWRP before this update or afterwards (for future updates)? - Will it lock the bootloader after this update (as stated above), so it will work fine till the next...

Any idea which TWRP is better for updating to Nougat? I find at least 3 versions! 3.1.0-0 (the one you mention) 3.0.3-1 and TWRP_libra_7.0.zip (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=50678) Do you update to the new TWRP before or after the ROM update? (there is a confusion there too)

A general question: How different is the Mi4c_6.9.8_V8-5.1 (dev) compared to MI4c_V8.0.4.0.LXKCNDG_v8-5.1 (stable)? There is a list on the top of this thread, is that all? I have installed the stable on my Mi4c and works fine... How often is the sable updated? Thanks.
