From TWRP, as usual. Effectively just a factory reset.

I ended up wiping and installing the latest ROM from scratch, installed SuperSU 2.79 + Xposed, restored my apps using TB and it works for now.

Same here, latest weekly does not solve it, neither does SR2-SuperSU-v2.79-SR2-20170103215521. The buildprop changes do not work for me either, and I can't install the PHH Superuser app from playstore (just keeps " Installing")...

TWRP is mentioned in another thread in this forum. There are many threads covering unlock & all related problems, just use search. Basically that's it: Unlock, TWRP, Flash EU ROM (and optionally SuperSU and xposed).

Unfortunately it does not seem to support the Fingerprint sensor on my 3S!

Sounds like a different issue on a different device and a different (non-miui) ROM. What we describe here is an issue specific to the Redmi 3S running MIUI.

Same issue here, very annoying. Workaround of turning GPS on works, but I am wondering if this issue is being worked on?
