For me it was 3 things for unlocking - root access so I can install Ad-away, split-screen option in Developer ROM and *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum* installation. I also thought that it will be a problem for me but me after 2 months of use don't see any difference, 4G working fine although I have 2 SIMs with operators that use that band. If there was a problem, I would switch one of the SIMs to third operator that uses only 1800 for LTE but still don't...

I think it depends if you do full update with all wipes, not sure for Max 2 yet, I've changed EU over Global on Redmi 4, in that case no data is left, maybe you can keep if using the same version update... Sent from my Jiayu S3 using Tapatalk

My Max 2 will arrive next week (probably with the same ROM as yours), I applied yesterday for Unlock and got permission today, after 22 hours. Mi account has nothing to do with your Android account, you will use both simultaneously. You can not enable Band 20, it's HW dependent, and for EU ROMs...
