What's the problem?

Magisk 17.1 works flawlessly on my MI8. Try to wipe Dalvik and cache before and after flash.There was no need for second reboot. The only things that I found so far is tethering not working and also hide notch. Other than that - everything is fine

If you're not familiar with TWRP I'd advise you to wait for stable version available from update app.

No you have to enter TWRP then go to wipe>advanced wipe> select Dalvik,Cache,System,Data and slide wipe

This will remove all apps, photos should stay though.

I flashed it through TWRP and I doubt there will be a possibility of flashing from updater anytime soon as, unfortunately, you will have to clean data. Also System, Cache and Dalvik. If you don't mind a clean install I'd recommend it though. It's way faster than oreo version. Make sure you put...

Just flashed on my Mi8. Everything working amazingly. Much smoother than 8.1 and notification bar higher than notch issue is fixed. If anyone has any question I'll sure try to help.
