    Don't really know how to help you then. It works fine for me, auto brightness doesn't even have to be on, obviously. I'm not really sure what the problem is now.

    Sure, navigate to Settings -> Display Settings -> Advanced Mode (under Brightness) -> Select "Use Custom" (under Light Levels) -> Edit other levels... -> Set all the values under Buttons to 255 and you will have the screen buttons on whenever the screen is on.
