this has happened to me at least two times. first time I noticed when the phone decided to call a friend of mine by itself lol I wonder if it could have something to do with the screen getting heated. if I remember correctly it happened to me when I had the phone in the car and exposed to the sun.

My friend's mi2s 16gb, using last week's multilanguage rom, does that as well. He just received it last week. Could it be a defective batch?

Medina don't mind me :) It's not your rom's fault. I fixed the problem by adding my country code to the contacts. Now the contact name appears normally in sms app. I just have to edit all my contacts... LOL Something which xiaomi should probably look into... edit: issue described here...

no I switched to cwm. but it seems the same problem exists in miuiandroids Multilanguage Rom as well. other than that the Rom is perfect medina. the previous problem I had with sms bug is resolved as well after clean install.

Me and my friend (both mi2 and mi2s) have noticed a bug with the sms app. starting the sms app after each reboot, we can see the contact name for each conversation just fine. but the second time we open the app the contact names are being replaced by the mobile number... so we cant tell who sent...

From miuiandroid's multilanguage rom, I installed miui recovery touch, because CWM had been somehow removed. Booted into recovery, then I wiped cache, data, dalvik cache. Flashed rom to both partitions I think.

Yup thanks, wiped cache and dalvik and problem is gone :) I had already wiped everything prior to flashing the rom though. I guess it's good practice to also wipe after the installation? @Medina Thanks for the heads up.

There either is an annoying bug with sms app (it force closes when choosing contact, and hangs when trying to type in a contact) or something is wrong at my end. Waiting patiently for newer version :)
