    Maybe are the volume keys on the cover.

    I've the same problem with volume level, I've tried many tweak (Acid and others) nut the issue doesn't solve, only app like Speaker Boost can raise the volume, but whit sound distorsions. Now I think to buy an amplifier like Fiio (E5, E6 or E11). ps. sorry for my English :-)
