Thanks a lot for this! Running very smoothly on Mi4c. However, one problem - since the MIUI 9 update my screen has gone blank every time I start a phone call. Comes back only after call disconnects. Anyone else had this? Any fixes?

yes, I believe my problem was mostly solved with 6.11.17 weekly ROM from here: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-11-17.36184/ would expect this to be fixed in the following ROMs, just updated today to the latest weekly, will have to see how it works.

I also have this problem on my Mi4C. also using the xiaomi.eu miui 7 weekly. lately it's been so bad that the battery might be at 40% and I do something power-intensive (such as shooting or watching a video) -> the phone dies and after that it's at 0% and can't start up.

I just installed Mi4c latest weekly ROM from here and was struggling to even get to use it as from the very start it complained "Unfortunately Google Keyboard has stopped" over and over again. I was able to install another keyboard apk through MI PC Suite, but still sometimes the Google Keyboard...
