Here's my take on 22.1.19 on Mi 11 Pro. Dirty update from the last MIUI 12.6 on this forum. Since i've had TWRP installed, upgrading to MIUI13 22.1.19 is a hassle since i need to use a PC. I just end up sideloading it using adb just like you would with pixel phone. Root is a hassle too since it's Android 12. Installed latest v24.1 magisk and patch boot.img from fastboot files. Push back the magisk_patched.img using fastboot and then turning on Zygisk and DenyList. Banking apps and shopping apps is working with Zygisk.
Compared to 21.12.8, 22.1.19 feels heavier and drain more battery with normal use (facebook, youtube, whatsapp with no gaming). I let it run for 2 days and it still feels hotter when on idle and on mobile data. I then fiddled with some settings. Turned on dark mode all the time and disabled a lot of autorunning apps. Now it remains cooler than before and the battery can now last the whole working hours. From 8am to 6pm, i still have about 19% battery left. Speaker now sounds louder but i noticed it gives more distortion now (vibrating noise).
What's good? The bluetooth now support and displays "aptX adaptive" status. Overall, there's not much improvement in UI and UX even with major MIUI and Android version upgrade. The Mi Gallery editor also showing there's an update to be installed but sadly it doesn't seem to be installing or downloading any update even when i tapped on the update icon.
My pet peeves with this update is that it still refuse to accept 3rd party launcher to work with swipe navigation. My oneplus 8t just gladly accept my Smart Launcher and the swipe navigation still work normally. Hope for 3rd party launcher support with MIUI13 soon. I've also accidentally installed Mi GetApps apk just now and then it automatically update my system apps, making the theme store unusable. So now I'm eagerly waiting for the next weekly update to get all the system app back to normal.
