Hi,

I was in the process of downgrading my mibox MDA-19-AA while I plugged my phone in the same computer I was flashing using adb (dd command was running :/ ). dd command stopped and as a result my box was bricked.
I tried to reinstall several old ROM found from https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862691887
with not luck. The box enters in recovery mode and start flashing the firmware but after 15 seconds throws and error and stops.
Searching in google I also found another method using a tool called USB Burning tool
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...ogic/s905x-xiaomi-mi-box-3-mdz-16-aa-t3502992

unfortunately in the link is for bricked MDZ-16-AA boxes, I tried the full img file and it didn't work with my 19-AA.
Then I also searched for full img for MiBox 3s but all the files that I found didn't load in the USB Burning tool... :(
Here the log from the tool, maybe someone can understand it a bit... :/

I am quite desperate almost throwing the box to the bin. I don't really know what else to do.

If you have any idea how to solve my issue, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot.

No expert in these matters of Firmware but according to that log, it appears the USB tool is trying to get data from the Mi Box? if so it is failing to do so at [Err]--[0x10103005]Romcode/Initialize DDR/Download buffer/Read item data failed.

While i'd haste to be negative and wrong, it looks like you've got a bricked box for 100% sure. JTAG might be the only way out of this via Serial USB UART.

I am also quite pessimist about it. :(
The JTAG option is a way to overwrite the device without trying to read anything out of it? Do you have any documentation I could read ? I am up to give it a last try...

Sad to say you are the victim of your own curiosity. Lucky for you, you can replace the 3S box for $US35.

Sad to listen there is no solution ... I just wanted to have a mibox in English with miracast and Netflix working on it.... In fact I have another box 3s,with me. I bought one for my sister as well. Now I am afraid of bricking the second one too. Could you give me some advise about how to achieve that in a safe way?

Plenty of Youtube tutorials how to implement partial English menus on MDZ-19-AA. You may sideload Netflix but you will only stream at 480 resolution. To avail HD or 4K resolution from Netflix, only the MDZ-16-AB will handle higher resolutions.

Why did you try to downgrade 3S? Were you using the bogus Vietnamese method to try to convert it to official AndroidTV?

I wanted to have a HD Netflix, that was the only reason. I already managed to translate the Chinese ROM and it looked fine to me until I tried Netflix. It didnt run at all so I decided to flash another firmware and I found this post in the miui blog.
http://en.miui.com/thread-804634-1-1.html

The idea seemed good to me, Netflix HD and English version.... now I am afraid to try again with my second 3s.

could I ask you a favor? coul you please tell me if you manage to download the full img file from here?

I cannot create a yandex account, I dont receive the confirmation SMS in my phone... :/

That would be my last try, that full img and the USB burning tool...
You are asking the wrong question......No matter what you do, starting with MiBox MDZ-19-AA will NEVER result in Netflix streaming at a resolution higher than 480.

You need a specialized device that meets Netflix requirements. The least expensive choice would be Xiaomi MDZ-16-AB with official AndroidTV.

You can readily purchase an original MDZ-16-AB from Aliexpress for $US69 delivered free to most countries. International version with many language choices and the ability to stream Netflix up to 4K resolution, provided your equipment meets Netflix's conditions for DRM.

Make sure your tv/av gear supports HDCP of at least 1.1 for 1080 and 2.2 for 4K streams, You must subscribe to the proper Netflix plan and, you must have sufficient internet bandwidth. Missing any one of these elements and your quest for HD or better streams from Netflix will fail.

Good luck

I am currently working on a firmware modification of MDZ-16-AA for MDZ-16-AB (using the tools and reading the amlogic manuals.) I managed to successfully replace the Bootloader, Recovey, System and boot, in the image for "USB burning tool ".

But I came across the following file "DtB. img ", will it be the same as I find when when I do unpack in the firmware called DDR. Usb?

In the amlogic manuals they imply that yes. But could someone confirm?

What is the file DTB. img?
