HTC desire stuck at HTC splash screen after updates

No cause of the problem in this post, but I have the same problem every few weeks of updating.

The solution for me is to download the full rom, not the update, and install that from the SD card. No need to wipe cache or anything. Just install it when you reboot. You should be good to go.

Didn't work for me still had to wipe data to get it to boot

When I have problems, I download the whole rom, wipe everything, then go into mounts and storage and wipe /boot and /system and then flash the new rom. That generally fixes it. Honestly, rather than use the updates, I prefer to download the rom, clear dalvik and cache and flash the rom from recovery.
