I have searched in miui 13 supported device list and miui 12.x and cant find explicitly my phone (redmi note 8 pro) listed. Does it mean that i can go with the basic rom version?

You only hope is https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/community-funded-mediatek-support-initiative.66319/, otherwise devices with mediatek SoCs aren't supported.
