Hello fellow Mi4c owners... I think it would be nice to build this thread exclusively for Mi4c to avoid confusion on the Mi4 thread... With both the Mi4 and Mi4c having separate issues/nuances and ROMS we can avoid confusion with the peculiarities of the Mi4c as well as avoid posting links that are not specific to the Mi4c... Share your experiences, your sadness, your joys, your knowledge, your images, your expertise, your thoughts and your overall feeling being a Mi4c owner... Join in, lets expand our knowledge together. :)

I currently have a Mi4c I bought last November.. I am using the Xiaomi EU weekly updates via updater app and also TWRP... Since OTA's aren't weekly any longer I have been downloading the ROMs either via phone or PC... Then installing via updater app or TWRP... of course after each update re-applying root with SuperSU via TWRP... I have experienced very few issues with this method... currently running 6.3.24 weekly... no issues have been detected so far....

doing it the same way! only skipping this last weeks rom! hoping for a news about android 6.01 soon for mi4c :D im still thinking should i go to teamsuperluminal . org/mi4c-cyanogenmod-13 for CM13 6.01 or wait for xiaomi itself and .eu to present their 6.01 marshmallow version.

Myself, mostly due to laziness and the fact I am pleased with the results so far will wait for Xiaomi release. Most of the manufacturers are rolling out Marshmallow to the devices that they are going to upgrade in the second quarter 2016(which is tomorrow where I live) Asus, Samsung, LG etc. some were upgraded as far back as January. Hopefully Xiaomi wont be far behind. Also like you I look forward to Marshmallow...Thanks for responding to the newly opened thread hopefully it can be a great place to learn from and help others .....

No you do not lock the bootloader by installing a stable ROM ...these are Xiaomi EU ROM's not the Chinese Stable version....
    - Official stable are MIUI.com chinese stable. All MIUI official ROMs will lock your bootloader.
    - Unofficial stable ROMs are the one made by Xiaomi.eu staff.

I think CM13 (with xposed) from TS it is the best option for the moment. I have a 5-6 hours SOT vs. 3-4 hours with Miui Eu. I am a Miui fan, but batery life time is much important for me...

You are correct miPC Suite does not work I used TWRP and made a local backup... I always do this in the event I end up with a bootloop or soft brick I can restore the phone from the local backup...

The ROMS mentioned above are about the only options at the moment you can always give them a try and revert back to Xiaomi EU ROMs if they don't work out for you...

always always keep a backup of your system in case you run into problems...its very easy to restore from backup to bring a soft bricked or boot looping phone back to life... I have done it many times....o_O

So, if we want to try the weekly rom we also have to weekly re-install SuperSu in order to have root, AND re-intall our favorite Recovery (TWRP)... I feel like I am working for my phone and not my phone working for me... it's like a Tamagotchi... not sure what to do about all this. Perhaps install an official rom and forget about fancy custom roms...

You will have to re-apply root after each weekly update but NOT recovery...TWRP is included in the weekly updates now... its simply a matter of re-applying root access...very easy.... hope that helps

Hi there. I am new to this forum and frankly new to the Mi4c. I purchased one in China last year as my global travel phone and am desperate to get the OS modified to remove all of the bloated Chinese elements (I don't read Chinese...)

I am a pretty good tinkerer, but I do not have experience with flashing Android devices. Only old iPhones. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to specifically walk me through the steps and the apps that need to be installed? I don't want to bric the phone by missing an important step the first time. I have seen several sets of instructions out there, but I am still not 100% clear. Happy to pay a few $$ for some good advice.

I am in Los Angeles CA.

    Thanks!

I also have to re-flash my favorite TWRP. I might not like the TWRP that's flashed with the rom. I like the 2.8.7.0 from TeamWin, now I have the 2.8.7.3, and I read somewhere that this week rom brings a TWRP 3 version... it's a pain actually.
