We received Oreo for Mi5s 1 month ago, but anyone knows about Pie distribution? We will have it or after Oreo, second major, we won't receive other updates?

It took loads of protesting and delays to get to Oreo (which was VERY uncertain up to a few months ago), so it's fairly obvious it will never get Pie.

I know, they told about the fingerprint issue because Qualcomm dind't release the drivers...so the only way to get Pie is change rom

Usually smartphones receive 2 major updates. For us are Nougat and Oreo so maybe it's the end. Mi5 is already in EOL so I don't have any hope to receive other Android updates, When will be in EOL I will pass to Lineage OS maybe

strangely, less powerful redmi series got at least 8.1....

learning by how it's done, seems xiaomi will care only it's popular phone... they will not care any less popular phone, no matter if it's flagship or not....

Mi 5X (nearly same release date but more popular) got 8.1 and now Pie..

Yes but 5x was released 6 month or maybe more after mi 5s and between 8.0 or 8.1 I don't think will be big changes...

surprisingly there's...
check the wikipedia on what's changed on 8.1... many is useful & affect the UX...

but knowing Xiaomi, they only cared about their most popular model regardless of the flagship status...

and after long research, I think the Mi X (like 5X & 6X) series got the best of both worlds in terms of hardware & software support...
