Mi Cloud Backup on 9.5.2 not working

I can't seem to back up my phone anymore.
The backup gets stuck after uploading ~0.3GB.
When I check the status and details of the backup it shows as corrupted.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Any solutions?

I'll leave the answer here, if anyone cares.
Apparently, it's no longer possible to create new backups, or restore existing ones, when outside of China.
So the only way I could get a backup process to work was by using a Chinese VPN.
