If it is a pre android 10 rom device...you are in luck if not you have to root

Hi EslamLoka,

update the SystemApps on your own risk, mostly you need root acces and changes on SystemApps can crash your phone!

to install SystemApps you can use this options/tools:

• use TWRP
  • Mount -> mount "system" dont mark "as read only"
  • Advanced -> File Manager
  • change directory to your downloaded File and copy it
  • change directory to "\system\priv-app\MiuiHome\"
  • copy your file into this directory
  • rename "MiuiHome.apk" to "MiuiHome.apk.bkp"
  • rename "your file" to "MiuiHome.apk"
  • chmod 644 to "MiuiHome.apk"
  • reboot
• Google Package Installer - downloadlink
• Xiaomi System app updater
• Split APKs Installer (SAI)
• adb install name.apk
• MT-Manager - description

Can you provide us the link where you found this modded MI Launcher -> then you dont have to upload it.

Very extensive guide.
However, there are a few caveats

1, if the app is "modded" as he says, he will not be able to install as update to original launcher regardless of whether he uses SAI or google package installer

2, if his device came with android 10 from factory, it most likely uses the new dynamic partition, which makes it not possible to modify "system" partition (without breaking stuff) using twrp.

I have tried it with SAI (root access) and TWRP on my MI9 (A/B no) with MIUI 12.5 / 20.12.28 without any problems.
I have used a custom MIUIHome.apk for testing.

Then you don't have to root...yay!
Follow the method @katerpanne provided.

Use the Google installer method.
If that doesn't work (apk signature error) let me know, i can make a twrp flashable zip for you.

I have copied it with TWRP without root and wiped the davlik and cache (important)

But there is no menu with "animation style" on my MI9

Go over to "arrange items in recents"
You should see "animation style"

Hi together, now its working, I had installed another modded MiuiHome.apk to test if TWRP option copy/paste is working.

That was a newer version. I had to uninstall the updates (SystemLauncher) and now its working like a charme

Google package installer should work for you.
What rom version do you have?

Nevermind I got it to work with TWRP, I was just a bit scared to mess thing up xd

Twrp flashable zip (installer and uninstaller)

Installer (TWRP)
TWRP_MIUI_Home_mod.zip

Installer (Magisk)
Magisk_MIUI_Home_mod.zip

After flashing reboot.
Might take sometime as cache is rebuilt.
Be patient.

The TWRP mod takes care of the install, backup and restore on a single file.

EDIT: This no longer works with recent android 11 update

Twrp flashable zip. (Couldn't test as i have no device that can modify system partition)

TWRP_MIUI_Home_mod.zip

After flashing reboot.
Might take sometime as cache is rebuilt.
Be patient.

And if we get new update for rom is it well be remove it ??
