PTP protocol doesn't show pictures saved on SD Card ?

Hello, I'm posting here since I didn't get an answer on my question posted on mi.com forums

I have a Redmi Note 9S (curtana), with latest official ROM for europe (EEA)

My phone is setup to save pictures on my MicroSD card

Now, I want to download them to my PC, and when I choose PTP protocol, it shows almost no pictures. In fact it shows only those stored on the internal storage, and not those that are stored on the SD card (almost all pictures).

How to fix this please ? Could you update your apps for that ? Is it possible to select which folders are used for PTP protocol


BTW, I don't want to use MTP because there are way too many other pictures that get downloaded (whatsapp folder for example, thumbnails...)

By looking at the source code I found this:

Starting from Android 4.0.4 :
- // We restrict PTP to these subdirectories (DCIM & Pictures)
- // In PTP mode we support only primary storage

This still seems to be the case with Android 10 : URL1 URL2
Starting from android 11 it is located here URL1 URL2

Do you think this can be changed in xiaomi.eu firmware so that PTP also supports external storage ?
