Well nothing is certain until they release it, but MIUI 9 should not change the android version. They haven't even invited people to beta test the rom if it got Android N release planned what they do so they can test it before release.
It is my assumption and even ingbrzy told us that MIUI 9 will not change Android version for any device.

And maybe in future we will get it. We have a compatible SOC... But also is true that I get MIUI 8 with lollipop and since we get marshmallow I felt no changes, so maybe will be the same if we are on marshmallow or nougat, the important will be MIUI 9, I guess...
