Are you using the VEUX MIUI 14 ROM? Also do you have root installed?

Works perfectly on my Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. Make sure you have everything updated and also try deleting Whatsapp app data to reset the permission prompts just to make sure you gave it the right permissions
