Hi guys, i have some questions about a MM upgrade, i have a MI4W with miui global 5.12.4
is possible to upgrade with MM china (i use italian language and i know in the china dev are only chinese and english) maybe it's a stupid question but, i can pugrade with the china dev o i must wait the global dev?

First install 5.12.17 from Updater app.

Then 6.2.4 from Updater app.

If you have problems/force closes after update then Settings, Additional settings, Backup & reset, Factory data reset.

I have installed the Miuiportugal 5.12.12.
the TRWP is installed with the 6.2.4 automatic?

No you need to install twrp or do a 6.2.25 rom install first 6.2.25 is the last one installable through Xiaomi recovery but it will install twrp. Then from it install 6.3.17

Yes you can rename it and install the others from updater. But there is no need to update the name for the first, just use the updater twice you can select any zip file.

the rom 6.2.25 is when this rom install TWRP right, have tried to install from the update app, but that message came.

Try intermediate install with 6.2.18

nope, i install 6.2.18 and all ok, but when i try 6.2.25 verification fail message appear, i try to install TWRP manualy and the same message "verification fail", if i want to install with flashify i need root, i'm i right?
any ideas? thanks
i have one "update.zip" file from 6.2.04 on the mi4 in case something goes wrong, its possible that is the problem?

but i cant install 6.2.25 because of the validation problem, and i try to flash the TWRP on update app and the same message, "update.zip validation fail", and i have the mi recovery still.

Hi, I think I see the issue.
from 6.3.18, you tried to update to 6.2.25 reboting in mi recovery. In my case (did it yesterday again for my son), from 6.2.18 I used the updater app without renaming the rom zip file and all went OK. Could you also retry to download 6.2.25 ?

second way:
copy 6.3.10 zip to the root of your phone
take TWRP 3.0 flashable recovery.
boot your phone in fastboot.
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery "twrpimgfile"
THEN THE CRITICAL PART:
boot in RECOVERY (not normal or it'll erase twrp) and disable partition modification (will lock twrp).
in recovery, install the zip of 6.3.10 (do not rename, useless)
let it run for while
wipe cache and dalvik
then reboot, should be there in 6.3.10

okay, i downloaded again the 6.2.25 and remove the renamed rom "update.zip" from the root of the sd card, and the 6.2.25 rom instaled ok, now i can update for the last version, right?
the instalation 6.3.17 must be due with the update app or in recovery in TRWP?

OK so you are in 6.2.25.
At this step you have twrp recovery installed so before installing anything more let 's do a backup.
Boot into twrp recovery and select backup of all your partitions that from now on you ll be able to step back if anything goes wrong or if you are unhappy with a rom revision. This is a great feature. After this backup, boot your phone as normal and use updater to install 6.3.17. You will notice it uses twrp under the hood.

By the way did you executed the twrp backup as suggested just in case? But I confirm it took some time to reboot and the phone was hot. Now runs fine.
