That's a shame. Are you sure that you connected the right wires? I had to go through a couple of old cables to get it right. I bought a new one and then peeled it and connected it like below. Then it worked on the first try.

Interesting. Sounds pretty simple. How do i know which ones are D+ and GND? The other method where i ground the second terminal from the left seems simple as well. I don't have any copper wire however. Tried it with kanthal wire but it didn't seem to work.
