things disappear in the recents

Can anyone think of a workaround to restore this feature or is it impossible? I'm thinking "hidden settings" apps or different launchers if any extend to the recents screen. I've just switched from the Global Rom with the Poco Launcher (Poco F5) to the latest stable EU Rom and I'm really missing...
