At least we know, without error, that the whole errors with Google Play lie within the /data partition, because both methods (flashing an external userdata.img and reformatting /data) deal with it. Maybe an enterprising dev could go about that and see what could be done?- logseman

Delete Whetstone And Reflash
You need a zip/unzip program like 7-Zip. Install 7-Zip from its website. Download the Xiaomi.EU update (which is a .zip file). Do NOT uncompress/extract the file, open it with 7-Zip.
