Tried to update and install via TWRP 3.1.1 on Mi Max 2, says zip is corrupt, any advice/ideas on how to fix this (currently on 8.6 / 7.7.20? I didn't wipe anything

can I dirty flash this over 8.6 / 7.7.20 without wiping data on Mi Max 2? First time I'll be updating the rom so want to know if I'll lose all apps/data etc. thank you and apologies for noob question!
