Hum not sure, Actually I own a Mi4, manual mode is really interesting, you can set : -Focus -Light temperature -Exposure/sutter speed -ISO And on lollipop rom I have no way to get these functions (and camera quality is poor but on MIUI it's great) as camera 2 api is not implemented on this...

I'm not sure but when you flash a MIUI update the flash will be done on the not used system, and the recovery switch to this system. The previous system will keep previous version system files.

Yes MIUI backup can be uneficient for desktop arrangement, but still nice for other apps. Copy all your internal memory to your computer (especially the android folder wich contains apps datas) after making a backup with MIUI backup, put everything on the Mi4.
