You have HyperOS? If so you can either try to reinstall 8.3 , however remove all encryption before. If you have the same result, try 8.1 no encryption for the installation

This can be the case, it's the bargain you choose. Own a cn region device - enjoy the advantages of a eu / google compliant rom. Effort and uncertainty weighted against money. Google One, Fotos, etc and shizuku can streamline a format, to barely be a inconvenience.

Xiaomi.eu rom requires a painless amount of work by the user. Did you buy the device unlocked with twrp and Xiaomi.eu HyperOS installed?

Did you clean install? or update? HyperOS has different App energy management. Restrict background processing and avoid autostart & location access for all apps. If a app doesn't work as needed, adjust the settings.

This has been the NR 1 question, and so it has been answered on almost every page of the weekly release threads, since the issue first appeared. This issue was happening with 12.18 for me. The following update was installed after a twrp wipe & format. Never seen the gallery crash again.
